Pig Tales by Iggy Oink – 19 – So here’s the thing about pigs – our natural habitat is almost anywhere in the world. We’re omnivores so we can survive in most climates. Pigs are mammals and our early origins are from the Eurasian wild boar. We’re also called hogs or swine – which is a generic reference to all pigs – regardless of our gender, breed or country of origin.

And something else I bet you didn’t know – pigs are one of the most abused animals on earth. We are deprived of most of our natural tendencies on pig farms and so we’re often referred to as dirty, filthy, ugly and stupid. That may be why so many people find us disgusting and think it is acceptable to beat, confine and abuse us. Remember you can tell a happy pig by his curly tail – you won’t see many of those on factory farms!
