A Rare Opportunity For Global Unity

A Rallying Cry – I Am Cecil – I can’t think of an issue in recent years that has electrified the world like the senseless killing of the magnificent lion Cecil by a common, bald and bespectacled man in need of power and attention. Enough about him – his name – now vilified – will soon be forgotten. Not so – that of Cecil.

If there was ever a rallying cry – this is it. A short, profound message – “I Am Cecil”. It has the power to represent every act of injustice being perpetrated against innocent people, sentient beings and our planet – anywhere in the world. Crimes being committed by corrupt politicians under the guise of governing, big business and greedy corporations – ignorant people claiming tradition and culture as their excuse for brutality in its many forms.

If people of every nationality and background seized this moment – this could become a global game changer. We are at a tipping point in the world today on issues like climate change – injustice – crimes against humanity – violations of human rights – the destruction of our planet for corporate greed – human trafficking of children and the destruction of wildlife by trophy killers and terrorist thugs.

If every situation of egregious behaviour – regardless of the country of origin – was greeted by the reminder that I Am Cecil – it would unite everyone who is working for a better world. It would also mean setting aside “ego” and “my organization is more important than your organization” and “my issue should be centre stage” and “I want to be #1” – all the bullshit that divides people who actually share the common goal of creating awareness – opening the hearts and minds of people and making global change possible. We must be united to achieve a common, world-wide good.

When you see any injustice – I Am Cecil.

When you see animal cruelty – I Am Cecil.

When you see terrorism of any kind in the news – I Am Cecil.

When you see the abuse of women and children – I Am Cecil.

When you see human rights violations – I Am Cecil.

When you see religion used to support evil – I Am Cecil.

When you see politicians uttering their scripted crap and their frequent lies – I Am Cecil.

Let “I Am Cecil” stand for a global awakening and a demand for accountability – transparency and change. Governments around the word are failing miserably –  money talks – corruption is rife and people are either too poor – uneducated – self-centred – apathetic – oppressed – or afraid to get involved.

It would mean that Cecil did not die in vain and that his murder proved to be a catalyst for a movement that changed the world for everyone. What an incredible way to honour this beautiful, murdered soul than to let his death be a touchstone for massive human awakening and global change!

Make no mistake – global governments and big corporations want citizens – numb, dumb, pre-occupied, afraid, self-centred, apathetic, compliant, worried and susceptible to propaganda, political lies and a lack of accountability. They do not want and are afraid of a “thinking and united” global population. In repressive regimes – people are arrested, jailed, tortured, intimidated into silence and murdered. There is no better way to unite people than to find their common ground and give them hope for change.
