ABH – Inspirational Sayings
ABH – Inspirational Sayings – May 2015 – If there is one thing that I know – it’s that all people who love animals have their hearts nicked or broken every day. But then we focus on the task at hand – which is creating awareness to help them – and get back to doing the job that stirs our passions and helps to correct human wrongs!
I’ve added a new category and started a Facebook page – A Beating Heart – Inspiration Sayings – for those days when we need a reminder of all that is wise, profound and still beautiful in the world. I have always loved “profundities” and I hope these give you a lift on a day when you need a touch of magic!
This page was inspired by and is in remembrance of the Nigerian people who have either been kidnapped or lost their lives in the recent atrocities.

An Ode To A Dead Rhino
A murder took place in Africa this week,
It was pre-meditated – cowardly – done by a freak,
The victim was old and wrinkled for sure,
But still active – and roaming – a life that was pure.
With money and power the killing was done,
The strutting – the bragging – all such good fun,
The killer so proud – with his binos and gun,
Sporting his camos – he sweats in the sun.
The crack of the gun and the bullets fly far,
Hit their mark – not to kill – now just to mar,
Enough strength in the body so the hunt can begin,
Oh the tracking – the danger – the sport and the din.
The kill shot is perfect – the beast is now tame,
The stories – the glory – the swagger – the fame,
But the truth of the con – is rooted in shame,
And the system that does this is vile with blame.
As the years take their toll on this life that will end,
The killer grows feeble – just stuffed heads to tend,
The lives that he stole are the sins he will hold,
Deep in a soul that is blackened with mould.
For the murder was paid for with dollars and sin,
His footprints now buried with the bones of his kin,
This shame will be carried by all who took part,
In the silence – the quiet of this dead rhino’s heart.
