Stepping Out
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 30, 2004 – After the day I had yesterday, I had good reason to question my sanity. However after a mildly successful sleep last night, I was up and out the door early this morning to run some errands. I met clients at eleven o’clock near Roncesvalles to see houses and finished up with them about three in the afternoon. Then it was home to look after Augie and Ziggy, before going to the ROM with a friend to see the “Pearls” exhibit.

A Tale Of 2 Lion Cubs In Spain – Part 6
From Yame And George
A Tale Of 2 Lion Cubs In Spain – Part 6 – We have been told that we already have all the permits and the tickets to go to our new home in South Africa with Kevin. We are a bit nervous since we have never flown before. We are kind of anxious on one hand to know our new home but on the other hand we are sad that we have to say good-bye to so many people that have been helping us during these last three months of our lives. Well, we know that you – our friends, have also been helping us with your donations.

A Wee Melt Down
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 29, 2004 – This has not been a good day in the life of this particular human. It’s one of those days when I wish God had declared, “Make this one an amoeba”. For some reason, known only to Him and perhaps St. Peter, he decided to make me a woman in a man’s world. Perhaps he knew how I’d turn out and thought, “She can handle it”.

Changing Closets
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 28, 2004 – It’s almost November and time for the twice yearly closet change. I have a sizeable home but even so, the storage space is at a premium. My third floor has no closets at all and of the three bedrooms, only two have closets. I use the closet in the den as my current season space and the other one for off-season clothes.

Every Working Elephant Has A Wounded Soul And A Broken Heart
The Tragedy Of Captivity – The Loss Of Dignity
Every Working Elephant Has A Wounded Soul And A Broken Heart – It cannot be otherwise because elephants are meant to roam with their herds for a lifetime – walking hundreds of miles over familiar, hallowed ranges – guided by instinct – ancestry and wisdom. Following the direction of a sage matriarch and mothered by loving sisters, aunts and cousins.

Shopping
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 27, 2004– There was a time when the thought of spending time shopping with a friend, having lunch and then shopping some more, sent little tingles of joy surging through my size 10 body. Most things that I tried on fit – I wore size 28 slim boot jeans, looked great in a fitted blazer and could wear cropped sweaters and figure hugging tee shirts. I was in my mid-forties. I was still a babe to be reckoned with – this much I knew!

Just Put Me Away
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 26, 2004 – Sometimes I think I should be put in a home. No, not a home for the aged, but a nice getaway for the unbalanced. Maybe a Green Acres for the feeble-minded. Was it only a couple of days ago that I was keenly aware of my good fortune in light of having seen the old lady in the wheelchair? Now correct me if I’m wrong. So why pray tell do I feel as if I’ve just been steam rolled by a tar spreader.
