These Things Hurt
We Know – But Humans Pretend Not To!
These Things Hurt – If you asked most people if they would intentionally hurt an animal they would say “no”. People claim to “love animals”. When you ask them how they can love animals – when they are happily smacking their lips while munching on a steak or chicken pot pie – they immediately mention their dog Pepper or their cat Sam. They become defensive and point out that you have no right to judge them.

ABH – Inspirational Sayings
ABH – Inspirational Sayings – 2016 – If there is one thing that I know – it’s that all people who love animals have their hearts nicked or broken every day. But then we focus on the task at hand – which is creating awareness to help them – and get back to doing the job that stirs our passions and helps to correct human wrongs!
A Beating Heart – Inspiration Sayings – is for those days when we need a reminder of all that is wise, profound and still beautiful in the world. I have always loved “profundities” and I hope these give you a lift on a day when you need a touch of magic or need to be inspired to get involved with an issue near and dear to your heart.

Find Your North Star
A Way Forward For Humanity
Find Your North Star – historically the North Star was used for navigation – finding a way forward in good times or bad. A beacon of light on a dark night and a sign of hope that all was not lost. We have just started our collective journey through 2016. People all around the world celebrate the passing of an old year with its victories and its woes and the start of a bright, new year with its promise of a better world – and kinder outcomes to the challenges of our troubled global village. With that in mind I have written some thoughts on how we can follow our global and individual North Stars.

Dangerous For Dogs
Foods To Research
Dangerous For Dogs – I grew up with pets and I’ve been fortunate to share my live with dogs as an adult. When we were kids our family dogs all got table scraps to supplement their canned dog food. That’s the way it was – no one thought about foods to avoid. How things have changed – pets are a multi-billion dollar business and responsible pet owners care passionately about their animals.

A Tribute To The Florida Bears
We Failed These Magnificent Black Bears
A Tribute To The Florida Bears – There are a few magnificent creatures who have iconic status in the animal world. The mighty blue whale can reach a length of 98 feet and weigh up to 180 tonnes. The elephant – the lion – the ape – the rhino – the wolf and the great white shark all engender a sense of awe in the beholder. But I venture to say that more children go to bed at night clutching a teddy bear than any combination of the aforementioned beings. Bears are a symbol of power – strength and love. In times past when a true hunter killed a bear to fulfil a human need – he honoured and thanked the animal for surrendering its life and he asked for forgiveness. Not so this day.
