Closing Down My Garden
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 22, 2004 – I had lunch with my friend Peter today, and when I got home I realized that it was time to shut off my water fountain, store away my garden ornaments and put the tarps over my outdoor furniture. Even though the first frost hasn’t hit, the potted plants are well past their prime and the ferns are brown.

From Confusion Comes Clarity
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 21, 2004 – The task of analysing and re-orienting my approach to business and developing my new Web Sites is proving to be a much larger nut to crack than I’d anticipated. I’ve had a few days of overwhelmedness followed by some new ideas, then a reversal back into confusion. Then finally tonight a sharp twist around to some clarity.

Lunch With Jackie
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 20, 2004 – I had lunch with my friend Jackie today. She of the west end home, the husband, four children and a small landscaping business. We’ve been friends for eighteen years, more or less, and met when we were both unwitting captives, I mean employees, in the same multi-national computer company.

Guardedly Exhilarated
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 19, 2004 – I went to a real estate seminar today, for which I will get twelve credits, to be applied to my on-going education program for my licence renewal in 2006. It just so happened, and this was a great bonus, that the course was right up my alley in terms of content.

Service
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 18, 2004 – I’ve worked in sales for over twenty-five years and while I may not know everything about selling, I do now a thing or perhaps two about service. Service is sort of like common sense – sorely lacking within the business world.

And Then There Were 12
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 17, 2004 – It took me five hours today to finish the pesky job of removing the glue residue from all the ocean stones. Every time I finished cleaning a batch of stones I did a trial assembly of between eight to eighteen stones – creating an Inukshuk in the process.

Sculpting Has Begun
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – October 16, 2004 – Yesterday, in my quest to find river stones for my Christmas “Inukshuk” project I visited Parkview Building Supplies near O’Connor. After a brief chat with the man behind the counter I was given directions to drive down the lane and turn right at the end of the lot, and ask for “Moe”.
