Childhood Games
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – September 12, 2004 – Many kids growing up in the fifties had one or two cherished toys – not the rooms full of them that children seem to have today. We weren’t inundated with gifts at Christmas and maybe – just maybe – we were better for it.

Success
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – September 11, 2004 – Defining success isn’t an easy thing to do. Unsuccessful is much more straight forward – it didn’t happen – you blew it – there are no more chances – you failed. After watching some events in the recent Athens Olympics, I was amazed to listen to some of the athletes discuss their disappointment when they weren’t “successful” winning a gold medal.

Mistaken Identity
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – September 10, 2004 – Many moons ago when I was leading a profoundly different life from the one I enjoy today, I was involved in a relationship with a man who shall remain nameless. The less said about him the better. If it’s any help – unbeknown to me at the time – my friends referred to him as Mr. Potato Head.

A Shot Of “Positive”
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – September 9, 2004 – I had to get up this morning at six-thirty. “So what”? – you may well say. Lots of people have to get up even earlier. This is true – except I’m a night person and I don’t function well in the morning – there’s something gratifying about getting my eyes to stay open and my head to sit erect – squarely located over my body, not lolling off to one side.

Lifestyle
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – September 8, 2004 – What does this mean anyway? Does anyone know? “Lifestyle” is defined as an individual’s’ typical way of life. This got me to thinking about my “lifestyle” – as opposed to say – the lifestyles of the rich and famous. There appears to be a distinct difference here.

Dreams & Dreaming
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – September 7, 2004 – All kids have dreams – just like they have imaginary friends. Adults frequently misplace their dreams and forget they ever had a pal that only they could see. The special illusory buddy who was always glad to see them, never criticized and believed in them no matter what.

A Gentle Reminder
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – September 6, 2004 – It’s Labour Day Monday – a perfect day to see a movie with a friend. Nancee and I saw the early previews for Vanity Fair and knew it would be a keeper. It’s a period film set in England and abroad in the early years of the 1800’s.
