Cooking
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – August 29, 2004 – I can cook when I have to, and given sufficient time, I can put a delicious meal in front of dinner guests. I make the best ‘chili’ known to human kind and have a few chicken recipes that make your taste buds roll over and surrender. Sandwiches are a breeze and my scrambled eggs are never a miss.

Balloons
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – August 28, 2004 – I can’t help but smile whenever I see a balloon. A bunch of balloons brings a bigger smile. There is something positive, funny and hopeful about balloons that is completely inexplicable.

Confrontation
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – August 27, 2004 – I am a confirmed “wimp” – I confess my crybaby status to the world. In spite of my friends and family making assumptions to the contrary, I abhor confrontation and I’m not particularly good at handling it when it rears its ugly head.

My Pee Pants
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – August 26, 2004 – We’ve all seen the ads on television for “Depends”. They show a middle-aged woman twirling around the dance floor with her smiling, age-appropriate partner. They have silly “happy grins” on their faces as they waltz about – circling the room with not a worry in the world.

Racoon Wars
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – August 25, 2004 – Just a couple of months ago four baby racoons and their mother would steal into my garden at night to play in the water fountain and look for snacks in the flower beds. Now summer is almost at an end and they are babies no more. They no longer come with mama but in pairs or on solitary missions.

Rainbows
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – August 24, 2004 – If there is anywhere in the world where it might be possible to find a stray pot of gold – I do believe it would be at the end of a rainbow. Rainbows happen all too infrequently for my liking, when atmospheric conditions, usually rain and sunshine appear at the same time.

Dizzying Expectations
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – August 23, 2004 – It’s only Day 3 and already I’m looking for results. I am completely unreasonable. I’ve given myself a year to attain a new weight and level of fitness and I’d like to see a difference in the proverbial “Mirror, Mirror on the wall”. It’s not much wonder my past attempts to defeat my chicken tummy and jiggly thighs have failed – fat doesn’t surrender it’s hold on a comfortable middle-aged babe very easily.
