Coming Clean – Panic & Anxiety
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – June 10, 2004 – I’ve already admitted to being obsessive, compulsive, impatient, anxious, bitchy (okay a bitch), a wee bit neurotic, uptight, anal, the Queen of Rationalization and The Princess of Procrastination. What I haven’t yet addressed is that I am a captive of Panic Disorder. There, I’ve said it. I am plagued by severe anxiety and panic attacks.

Signs Of Summer
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – June 9, 2004 – Our long hibernation is over. It’s safe to emerge from our homes and linger outdoors. It was thirty-two degrees today. Hot, humid and sticky. The green paradise that is a Canadian summer is upon us – the long winter sleep forgotten for a few precious months.

The Homecoming
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – June 8, 2004 – I was up bright and early this morning, and leaving Ziggy happily munching on his breakfast, I scooted out to my car and headed down to Gerrard and Parliament to retrieve Augie from the Cabbagetown Pet Clinic. He’s well enough to come home now, after four days at the animal spa.

I Wonder If It Could Be True?
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – June 7, 2004 – When I attended the University of Waterloo – I lived at Renison College the Anglican college on campus for four years. This wasn’t due to any overwhelming adherence to all things Anglican, but rather to a desire to live on the university grounds. Fortunately my lapsed Anglicanism was never called into question.

Dragonflies & A Garden Bell
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – June 6, 2004 – I have a yen for a bell for my back yard pergola. I saw an ornate , black iron one last week at Bill’s Garden Centre for $44.99. It was exactly the size I’d envisioned and I thought it was an amazing price. But what do I know about the price of bells in Toronto? As it turns out, very little.

A Relapse
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – June 5, 2004 – I thought Augie had rounded the corner and headed for home. He seemed so much better. His eyes were brighter and he had a bit more zip in his step when we went out for bathroom parade. When we came back inside, he pounded on his food bowl with his paw, so I gave him a few of his bickies to munch on. He’d kept rice down all day and some soggy bits of cracker, but I knew he must be hungry.

Feeling Appreciated
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – June 4, 2004 – This was a very busy, frustrating week. I had double-booked clients, missed my Moby Dick Book Club meeting, had a sick dog, no time for myself, didn’t get enough sleep and worked too many hours. At times I felt overwhelmed and grumpy. Today a real estate deal I’d worked on fell apart.
