Feeling Thankful
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – April 3, 2004 – Many days go by, when I take my life completely for granted. I forget all the things I have to be grateful for and focus instead on the “list” of things that need to be done, some of which I don’t particularly enjoy and don’t want to do.

An Overactive Imagination
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – April 2, 2004 – I just know there are people who can identify with this! My rotten cold still has a stranglehold on my ears and throat, so last night I made a Neo-Citran before I went to bed. It not only helps to clear my sinuses, but it makes me sleepy – a true gift for this crazed and sleep-deprived menopausal woman.

Ziggy In The Morning
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – April 1, 2004 – I received a very funny e-mail this morning from a friend. I have no idea who wrote it but I thought it was worth re-printing here, with thanks to the author, whoever he or she may be. It’s a defining essay on the differences between cats and dogs. Being the guardian of both – I can attest to its veracity.

What Do They Say About March?
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – March 31, 2004 – They say if “March comes in like a lion – it goes out like a lamb”. That sort of sums up how I’m feeling right now. Meek like a lamb. The weather is certainly behaving. The snow has vanished. The days are longer, mild and damp, but this miserable cold bug I have is hanging on well after it has any right to do so!

Rainy Nights
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – March 30, 2004 – ‘Rainy Nights’ – so essential to our well-being, yet to hear people complain one would think we had to walk over hot coals in hell whenever it rains. Moaning, groaning and whimpering over a bit of water. Now a heavy snow fall in mid-April, that’s something to wail about.

Self-Acceptance
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – March 29, 2004 – I was watching a film last week-end about European and English knights and the jousting and broadsword matches in which they competed. Of course, there was the cruel, self-serving bad knight (with the black horse) and the good knight, who wasn’t really of noble birth.

A Brutal Cold
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – March 28, 2004 – I’ve been lucky this year. It’s almost the end of March and I’ve only been plagued by a couple of scratchy throats and a few days when I felt tired and achy. It would have been unlikely to make it through the winter season without a cold, but I was nearing the finish line.
