Going To The Movies – Alone
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – March 21, 2004 – It’s Sunday and I’m taking the day off. I’m not seeing clients, doing research for them, worrying about them or about where my next deal is coming from. I slept in and then had tea and toast in front of the fireplace. Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – March 20, 2004 – I love the movies – I could go every day! What better way to be entertained, educated and transported away from my life and into the lives, times and events of interesting characters. I cry whenever I go to the movies. This isn’t necessarily a sign that it’s a sad film – I cry during Fleecy commercials – so I always need to have a hanky in hand to ward off the sniffles.

Complaining
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – March 19, 2004 – If you think hockey is the national pass time of Canadians, you have been misled. It is complaining. We have a litany of ills as long as a hockey stick, and male or female it’s our duty and obligation to explain these, at every opportunity, to friends, family, business associates and total strangers – especially strangers.

Frustration
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – March 17, 2004 – Just when I thought I might be getting a handle on staying in my “calm centre” – and not allowing other people or situations over which I have no control – to drive me absolutely bonkers, along comes a day like this one.

The Beauty Of Language & The Wonder Of Words
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – March 16, 2004 – I remember taking Latin for three years in high school. Mr. Stevenson was my teacher. Of course, none of us in grade 10 really wanted to study the language, but if I recall, the alternatives were music or German, so Latin seemed like the lesser of the proffered evils.

Black Eyes & Birthdays
Short Stories From 10 Years Ago – March 15, 2004 – If he was still living my dad ‘Charlie’ would be 83 years old today. I know he’s in a better place, but I miss him and always remember and acknowledge his birthday.
